Just got this great workhorse of a portable cassette player (“Walkman” is a trademark of Sony, and as you can see, this is a Toshiba…) at Valu World in Ann Arbor for $1.81. Their price points make no sense to me (it would be $1.89 to come out to $2 w/MI sales tax), but getting a functioning cassette player for my commute (for under $2, at that!) makes perfect sense. Just today, I listened to the excellent Russian Tsarlag/(d)(b)(h) split on Friends And Relatives (available VERY soon from Archaic Formats), and the bizarro proto-trip-hop of Leslie Winer & That Dead Horse, released recently by UK mysterios The Tapeworm (not to be confused with the longer-running Ypsilanti label Tapeworm Tapes, which Archaic Formats is also proud to distribute…)…
